House with former house to rear now incorporated as rear wing. House
late C18-early C19, raised from earlier C18 cottage. Rear wing early-
mid C19. C20 alterations. House: brick with coursed limestone rubble
wall to ground floor right, ashlar gable copings and shaped kneelers.
Rear wing: coursed ironstone rubble with brick dressings. Pantile roofs
throughout. House: 2 storeys, 3 first floor windows; symmetrical.
Central sash with glazing bars under keyed stucco flat arch occupies
position of former entrance. Flush sashes with glazing bars to either
side under plain stucco arches, similar windows above under keyed stucco
arches. Stepped eaves. End stacks. Right return shows gable-end of
earlier single storey cottage with gable and chimney above rubble ground
floor. Left return also shows outline of earlier gable-end, with
I E tie-bar ends in gable above. Rear wing: 2 storeys, 1 first floor
window, has plank door to left and 12-pane sliding sashes. Rendered
axial stack. C20 rebuilt gable-end. Rear wing is remnant of former
terrace known as Barracks Yard.
