GV II

House and barn/stores. Late C18 for George Uppleby of Barrow Hall, with
later alterations and addition to left. Brick with pantile roof.
Rectangular on plan: barn on right, house to left with entrance to rear.
2 storeys, 6 irregular bays. Section to right has round-headed board door
with wrought-iron strap hinges flanked by pairs of slit vents. Two C20
casements to left end. First floor: 5 slit vents and 2 board doors with
strap hinges to right; 1 sliding sash to left with glazing bars and timber
lintel at eaves level. Stepped eaves. Brick coped and tumbled gables.
Large projecting endstack to left; upper section of gable rebuilt, with G U
tie-bar ends.
