Farmhouse. Late C18 for George Uppleby of Barrow Hall. Brick in Flemish
bond. Pantile roof. Plan: 2-room central entrance hall front to left with
entrance to single room on right; continuous rear outshut and later
extension to right. 2 storeys, 5 bays, with 3-bay symmetrical front to
left. Doric doorcase with 6-fielded-panel door and 4-pane overlight in
reveal, flanked by 16-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves with wooden
cills. 6-panel door to 4th bay beneath 4-pane overlight with C20 casement
to right. First floor: 2 similar casements to right, 16-pane sashes to
left. Stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice. Brick coped and tumbled
gables. Axial and end stacks, that to right a C20 rebuild. Interior
contains chamfered spine beams and closed string staircase with moulded
handrail and plain balusters.
