House, now 2 houses. C17 or earlier, front cased in brick in C18, eaves
heightened in C19 in different brick and S gable later cased in brick. A
2-storeys and attic L-shaped, 3-cells, internal chimney, lobby-entry
plan house facing W with chimney a third from S end and narrow N wing
projects to rear. Flat roofed 2-storeys rear extension to No. 26 at S
end. Twin front doors in combined heavy frame with plank doors under
lean-to tiled canopy on curved brackets. 3 3-light, flush casement
windows to each floor with segmental arches to ground floor. Small
window over porch. 2 tiny dormers on roofslope. Sun Insurance plaque now
kept in No. 28/30. Interior has axial chamfered beams on ground and 1st
floor, winding stair to rear of chimney, fireplaces on each floor and in
attic. 3 flues in T-shaped chimney above ridge. Separate stair in N wing
which has projecting rear gable C18 chimney serving ground floor only. N
end roughcast.
