Farmhouse incorporating remains of domestic buildings of Creake Abbey (q.v.).
Medieval and early C19. Ashlar and rubble stone, flint and brick, red
pantiled roofs. 2 storeys, 'L' plan forming part of east and south ranges
of monastic cloister (q.v.). Early C19 south front has 3 ground floor tri-
partite sashes with glazing bars set in stone architraves, 5 first floor sashes
with glazing bars. Off-axis gabled single storey porch incorporating C15
4-centred double hollow chamfered arch with colonnettes with bases and
capitals, sub-cusping to inner arch, ogee apex and finial. Set-off angle
buttresses, north and south lancets. One axial stack. Rear wall to cloister
has one ground floor partly blocked 3-light Gothic headed window, 2 first
floor stone"window embrasures. Single storey wing attached at west has 3
sashes with glazing bars. One axial stack. Rear wall to cloister has one
complete C15 single lancet, one lancet head only, one 4-centred door arch
and one 2-centred door arch. East range on axis with south transept of church
has 4 ground and 4 first floor windows. At south one ground floor Gothic
arched head 2 light casement, 2 first floor sashes with glazing bars at north
one ground floor 2 light and one 3 light Gothic lancet windows, one 2-light
casement, 2 first floor sashes. Central straight joint division. Returned
north gable has stone quoins, blocked first floor 2 light C15 window, external
chimney breast and stack. West return to cloister has one ground floor 3
light and one blocked first floor 2-light Gothic window. Straight joint at
middle of east front of this range suggest incorporation of complete monastic
build in 2 bays to north. One eaves and one ridge stack, all mid-C19 brick
stacks with octagonal shafts, rectangular plinths and copings.
