Barn and cattle-shelters and loose boxes around fold yard.C18 barn,remodelled and extended in circa mid C19.Barn is built of flint with brick dressings,other buildings are of
red Flemish bond brick;pantile roofs with gabled ends.Plan:three-bay barn,with centralthreshing bay,with opposing cart entrances;remodelled and roof rebuilt in C19 by addition of midstrey and outshuts on the north side and cattle shelters and loose-boxes around fold yard on the south side.Exterior:the roof of the barn on north side is carried down over central midstrey flanked by lower outshuts.On south side of barn catslide roof over open fronted cattle shelter with integral shed on west end of barn.The cattle shelkter faces a fold yard,on the east and west sides of which are ranges of stables etc and on the west side a wall with a central gateway.Interior of barn;spalyed blocked ventilation slits,large cart entrances with segmental arches,the south one blocked;C19 queen-strut roof with collars and side purlins.Note:Cross House Farm is one of three farms in Earl Spencer's 3,000 acre North Creake estate.The third Earl Spencer(1782-1845)was founder and first president of the Royal Agricultural Society,and a fellow agriculturalist and friend of Thomas Coke,Earl of Leicester of Holkham nearby.
