1840s Gothick house. White coursed stucco walls. Steep purple slate roofs
with shaped courses. 4 chimneys. Irregular 2-storey gabled block with heavy
carved openwork bargeboards. Yellow sandstone mullioned windows, some with
deep label moulds. Square-headed window with ogee-headed lights. Crenellated
2-storey stone bay. Tall yellow sandstone mullioned and transomed staircase
window with original diamond leaded glazing. Garden terraces have low stone
trefoil openwork walls. INTERIOR OF NO 1: Newel dogleg staircase with shaped
oak handrails and sculpted closed string. Double balusters and double ornate
newels. Openwork glazed oak screen to hall. 4 panel internal doors with
raised fielded and bolection moulded panels. Oak Gothic-headed front entrance
door, framed, battened and cross-braced. Rectangular oak panelling and good
plaster cornice to dining room. Fine mahogany panelling to drawing room.
INTERIOR OF NO 2: Inserted (2) oak panelling in dining room and good original
parlour with arched recesses and moulded plasterwork.
