GV II
Hall house with 2 crosswings, C15 and later extended in C19 and C20. Timber
framed, plastered between exposed framing, roofs tiled and slated. Hall and
jettied NE crosswing C15. SW crosswing early C17, chimney stack with 2
diagonal shafts at SW end of hall rebuilt in C19, NE extension with plain
plaster, slate roof and axial chimney stack, C19. NW extensions C20. Ground
floor, bay window with C20 casements, plain door with early C19 hood. C20
casement, bay window with C20 casements under jetty. First floor, 3 C20 casements.
NW extension, glazed door and 5 C20 casements. Photograph taken by RCHM
c.1920 shows that at that time the framing was lathed and plastered externally,
later stripped, with much replacement framing in front wall of hall.
Blocked window with 3 ovolo mullions in upper SW wall. Jowled storey posts.
Tiebeams straight in SW crosswing, cambered in NE crosswing, roofs inaccessible.
Inserted floor in hall late C16. Stop-chamfered beams. Partition wall of
ground floor between hall and NE crosswing stripped, with much replacement
