Schoolroom, now house in multiple occupation. Circa 1840, with alterations of C20.
Coursed slatestone rubble with granite dressings and quoins. Slurried scantle slate
roof with ridge tiles and gable ends with raised coped verges and stone finial to
east. The rear slope is in asbestos slate. Rear lateral stack with brick shaft.
Plan: Large rectangular building at the west end of the churchyard; there was
probably a large schoolroom at ground end first floor, each room heated from the rear
lateral stack; entrances originally at the right and left ends of the front. In
circa late C19 a shallow addition of one-room plan was made to rear left.
Exterior: 2 storeys, a symmetrical 5-window front. First floor has five C20 2-light
3-pane casement with granite jambs and voussoirs. Ground floor has three central
similar windows with toplights. To right a plank door with voussoirs. To left the
doorway is blocked, with C20 casement with toplights inserted. The left end abuts
the adjoining house. The right end is blind with small privy attached. At the rear
there is a C19 12-pane sash at ground floor to left. To right the later C19 addition
is 2-storey, with monopitch slurried scantle slate roof; ground floor has two C20
windows and C20 door, first floor has two C20 windows.
