Farmhouse. Early-mid C17 possibly with earlier origins extended in C19. Rendered
cob and rubble walls. Gable ended slate roof. Brick stack at right gable end and
one set in from left-hand end, rendered axial stack.
Plan: orginally 3-room and tnrough passage plan, lower end to the left. Hall stack
backs onto the passage. It is not clear whether the lower and inner room
fireplaces were original or inserted later. The house was extended slightly at the
left-hand end in tne C19. In the C20 tile partition between the hall and inner room
was removed and a 1-storey addition built at the right-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window front of circa early C20 2 and 3-light
casements. C20 glazed door at left-hand end. C19 panelled door to passage left of
centre behind open-fronted trellised porch.
Interior: hall has granite-framed fireplace with hollow chamfered lintel. The back
of it, facing the passage, is constructed of granite ashlar with a chamfered
cornice. The lower room has an ovolo-moulded cross-beam with 2 chamfered beams
running from it to the fireplace. The old roof timbers were replaced when the
thatch was removed from the house.
