Equestrian statue. Known as the Copper Horse. Erected in
1824-30. Sculptor Westmacott. Bronze statue of horse and
figure on stone base. The figure of George III is in classical
robes with laurel wreath. High, irregular rusticated stone
base inscribed: GEORGIO TERTIO/ PATRI OPTIMO/ GEORGIUS REX
On all sides of the mould on which it stands are large
scattered stones.
