Farmhouse, c 1600, 2 storeys, timber framed and plastered. Peg tile roof, gabled at
NE and hipped over a crosswing at the SW and returns to a gable at the rear. Rear
has 2 gabled staircase towers and a kitchen-like single storey, attached block, with
part flint walling. The plan form is of the 'baffle entry' type, but with a wide
tunnel through the chimney stack forming a cross passage. The SW crosswing is fully
articulated in structure. Front has many old cast iron casements with leaded lights,
2 open, gabled C19 porches with peg tiles. Off-centre stack is contemporary and has
four square detached shafts conjoined at head. One stairtower has original newel post
and finial and arched head at ground floor entrance. The side purlin and clasped
collar roof makes use of remnants of an earlier crown post roof'.
