House, C16 and early C19. 2 storey red brick house with gabled slate roofs. Of
2 main blocks, the N, lower block is a recased C16 timber framed crosswing, survivor
of a fire. There are single storey, later extensions at the N rear of no historic
interest. The front has, in the early C19 block, 3 double hung sashes over 2 double
hung sashes with a presumed, blocked central doorway, now entirely ivy-clad. The
crosswing block has 2 double hung sashes with small panes over 1 similar and a glazed
C19 bay window. 2 ridgeline red brick stacks and possibly C17 stack on crosswing,
flank wall. Rear elevation shows red, flemish bond brickwork and segmental rubbed
brick window heads. Timber frame of crosswing as massively constructed with heavy
jowls, arched bracing and halved and bridled scarf joints. Interior has a late C18
china cupboard with simple pilasters and serpentine shelves. (RCHM 22).
