Almshouses. 1787, for Samuel Whitbread (Bedfordshire Record Office, W3295/6).
Red brick, old clay tile roof. 4 cottages, each of 2-room plan, originally in
2 blocks, now linked by late C19 lower block with similar addition to SE. 2
storeys. Original blocks have 2-light casements with leaded lights, ground
floor ones under cambered heads. Doors to LH block are C2U replacements,
those to RH block have C20 gabled brick and tile porches Brick coping to
gables, 2 red brick ridge stacks, one red brick gable end stack to LH block.
Side elevations have brick bands at eaves level.
