ST 67 NW STOKE GIFFORD THE GREEN

4/7 The Court

Farmhouse and attached cottage, now house. Dated 1862. Rubble brought to
courses, freestone dressings, slate roofs with overhanging eaves. Main (south)
block, set back (north) wing. Main block, 2 storeys, 3 windows all under gables,
centre recessed with shallow porch under flat hood, mainly glazing bar sashes;
right gable has a 2-window ground floor bay, single window above and datestone
above that; left gable has a pair of windows at ground floor below a relieving
arch, above a single window below a stone bearing B(eaufort); single gable at
rear. Attached cottage wing, l½ storey, 3 windows, all glazing bar sashes;
adjacent to main block is a plain door, there is a window at ground floor with one
in an eaves dormer above then 2 below, 1 above in a full height gable. Part of
a major Beaufort estate development in the picturesque tradition.
