ST 67 NW STOKE GIFFORD THE GREEN (east side)

School. Dated 1863. Rubble brought to courses, quoins, freestone dressings and
stacks, slate and concrete tile roof. Main block and south cross wing. 1 and
1½ storeys, 6 windows; gabled main block has 5 tall transmullioned windows and
one large 9-light window in end gable under datestone; central, large ornate
stack; gabled it storey cross wing has 3-light transmullioned window with
diamond lattice casements, similar 2-light window above, both under relieving
arches; above these are the Beaufort arms and then ornate bargeboards and finial;
lean-to porch to right has an elliptical opening and stands on a chamfered shaft;
end gable and single storey rear wing have similar diamond lattice windows.
Part of a major Beaufort estate development in the picturesque tradition.
