Manor house. Early-mid C17, remodelled C18; additions and restorations mid-late
C19. Rubble with freestone dressings; twin span slate roof behind coped parapet
and moulded cornice. 3 storeys. 3 bays: thick glazing bar sash windows in raised
slain stone surrounds; centre first floor window has a round head. Central, pro-
jecting, C19, 2-storey ashlar porch. The north gable end retains 2-light casement
windows in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds and under dripmoulds. Rear (gar-
den) elevation of 3 windows, the outer ones being in 2-storey canted bays of
1-4-1-light cross windows in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds. Central door-
way in doorcase with segmental pediment on plain pilasters. Interior: Central
passage has, at the west end, a freestone doorway with a 4-centred head and an
ovolo moulded surround. Ground floor north room is panelled; 4-centre headed
fireplace in ogee-ovolo moulded surround and with enriched arabesque frieze, den-
tilled cornice on carved consoles and enriched overmantel of 3 shell headed niches
with carved frieze; restored strapwork ceiling with fleur-de-lys motifs, central
star pattern and rosettes. There is thought to be a further fireplace of note
on the first floor.
