House. Medieval, C16, C17, C19. Timber framed with cruck trusses.
Rubblestone cased. Slate roof. 2 bays, 2 storeys. Former medieval
open hall house of 2 bays with cross-passage and service bay at left.
Solar bay now incorporated in No. 9 (q.v.). Street front has left
bay with 3-light casements, then cross-passage door with moulded
frame, late C16. Right bay 3-light ground floor casement, 2 light
upper. Lintel to medieval hall window between floors. Left hand and
centre stacks. Interior: 2 cruck trusses, C15, one to cross passage
other in party wall with No. 9. Fireplace inserted backing onto
cross-passage late C16 with, cambered lintel, lintel and jambs chamfered.
C16 door to cross-passage with moulded frame. C16 inserted ceiling in
hall bays with heavy chamfer to spine and cross-beams. Remains of
timber-framed wall to left of cross-passage and rear doorway into C19
outbuildings from cross-passage. Upstairs upper parts of cruck blades
and to left hand fireplace its oak lintel dated "1660".
