Dovecote at Hardwick Farm
GV II*
Dovecote. Probably late medieval or C16. Local stone rubble
walls and corbelled domed roof with opening at the top. Round
plan. Tall building with altered doorway and 1 window opening
with iron bars; putlog holes.
INTERIOR: is lined with nesting holes.
With a handful of other examples in the south-west peninsula
and South Wales, this dovecote with its corbelled roof is
representative of ancient building traditions characteristic
of other Atlantic Seaboard provinces such as Brittany and
Southern Ireland.
