Farmhouse. Late C17 with l-bay addition and new roof c1870.
Dressed limestone, fishscale tiled roof with coped verges and brick
and stone stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 4-window front. C19 door
to centre of original range with 3-light recessed chamfered
mullioned casement either side and C19 mullioned casement to right.
First floor has 3-light mullioned casement either side of 2-light
over door with C19 three-light mullioned casement to right. C17
casements are leaded, C19 ones are cast-iron latticed. Lean-to
brick shed to left return with blocked single-light recessed
chamfered light to attic. Right return has blocked doorway, C20
renewed mullioned windows, one C19 cast iron casement to first
floor. Rear has glazed door and two 2-light leaded casements to
ground floor and 3-light to first floor, late C19 two-storey rear
wing linked to main range by first floor passage on posts, cast
iron mullioned casements or C20 casements.
Interior has two open fireplaces on stone jambs, the north with
reused deeply chamfered beam with joist mortices, C17 chamfered
beam reused for south lintel, chamfered beams with ogee stops, most
of joinery Cl9. Part of Seymour family estate, sold to Wyndhams
1876 and became part of Clouds estate.
