Garden ornament (A), late C17 with arms of Sir Christopher Hatton. Limestone
urn with acanthus base, floral swags and mask ornament between two scroll
handles, mounted on round to square stem with panels enriched by arms in
cartouche and a hart with swags on moulded plinth. Sir Christopher Hatton
owned the property in 1681 and possibly built the garden wall. The ornament
is one of three placed in a formal garden arrangement of two rectangular
lawns enclosed by box miniature hedges.
