Manege now estate office. c1840 with later alterations. By Decimus Burton
for second Lord Howden. Magnesian limestone with ashlar dressings and Welsh
slate roof. 2 storeys, 9 bays with central 3-bay pedimented breakforward.
Entrance to south side a plank door with fanlight within projecting arched
surround. Main facade: plinth. Ground floor has irregularly spaced
casement windows. First-floor band supports Diocletian windows with ashlar
surrounds, some blocked, those to centre with arcaded round-headed recesses
to centre bay. Overhanging eaves cornice. Pediment. Hipped roof. Hussey
C, English Country Houses, Late Georgian, 1800 - 1840, 1958, pp 230-238.
