Lodges, gates, railings and piers. c1840. By Decimus Burton for Lord
Londesborough. Magnesian limestone ashlar, with wrought-iron gates and
railings. Lodges (alike): square on plan, single storey, single bay. Side
entrance a part-glazed door under hood. Pilasters to angles. Sides have
round-arched niches with aprons. Cornice. Stepped roof surmounted by
kneeling figure of a warrior. Ornamental carriage gates with pedestrian
gates to sides have 2 levels of rails and decorative cresting. Ornamental
railings curve round to rusticated piers with cornice and ball finial.
Further railings on low wall to rusticated end piers.
