Farmhouse. c.1750; wing altered later. Herringbone-tooled sandstone on
chamfered plinth, with pantile roof and brick stacks. Central-stairhall,
double depth plan, with service wing. Entrance front: 2 storeys, 5
windows, with 1½-storey, 1-window wing at right. Left-of-centre panelled
door beneath radial fanlight in round-arched Gibbs surround. Original 12-
pane sash windows, in architraves with stone sills, survive throughout.
Cavetto-moulded eaves cornice, returned at each end. Coped gables and
moulded kneelers. End stacks to front range of double span roof. Wing
has board door, and 6-pane sashes with plain sills to both floors.
Vertically tooled lintels to all openings. Coped gable, shaped kneeler
and stack at right end. Garden front: 2 storeys, 4 windows, with wing at
left. Left-of-centre panelled door, beneath small pane over light, in
architrave. C20 replacement windows to left of door and 12-pane sash to
right; 16-pane sash at left end and 2-light, 16-pane horizontal sliding
sash at right end. First floor windows are 12-pane sashes. All windows
have plain raised surrounds with stone sills. Cavetto-moulded eaves
cornice. Coped gables and shaped kneelers. Right-of-centre stack. Wing
has 4-panel door beneath catslide roof. Gable walls: openings have plain
raised surrounds. In left return, original 8-pane sashes survive on
ground and first floors; 4-pane attic sashes in both returns. Interior:
open-string, open-well staircase with columnm-on-vase balusters and
moulded, swept handrail. Ground floor: left front room has segment-
arched stone chimneypiece with keyblock. Kitchen in wing has segment-
arched chimneypiece with moulded shelf; plank cupboard door on butterfly
hinges. Most doors throughout are 6-panel, on butterfly hinges.
