Description

RIPLEY HOLLYBANK LANE
SE 2860-2960 Tower Bridge over Ripley
Beck
15.3.66 (formerly listed with
tower at end of Ripley
Castle garden wall)

GV II

Bridge. Possibly C17 with C19 rebuilding. Gritstone. A double-chamfered
single segmental arch. The spandrels of large well-cut blocks, the parapet
of smaller stones; the parapet coping of large chamfered blocks linked by
iron staples. Hollybank Lane is thought to be part of a Roman routeway and
is certainly part of an early road linking Pateley Bridge and Boroughbridge.
