Farmhouse now 2 dwellings. Late C18 for the Wentworth Castle estate, altered 1985.
Coursed, dressed sandstone, stone slate roof. Partly 2 storeys, 3 bays; 2-bay
wing to centre rear. Central bay breaks forward and has C20 single-storey front
addition with French window beneath gable; main gable has two C20 casements within
a basket-arched panel which breaks into an ashlar-coped open pediment. Single-storey
side bays each have a C20 casement beneath round-arch within a round-arched panel,
bay to right now cement-rendered. Truncated ashlar ridge stack to centre flanked
by smaller ridge stacks. Rear: wing has sashes and casements, end stack; narrower
end addition in brick.
Interior: farmhouse has 2 corniced ashlar fireplaces, one with elaborate architrave
(resited from position in left return end wall). Previous list description states
that John Platt, known to have worked for the Earl of Strafford, may have been
involved with this building.
