Barn and attached outbuildings including horse-engine house, now disused.
Probably late C17 with later additions. Rubble sandstone; remains of stone
slate roof, sheet asbestos roof to rear. 5-bay barn with partial aisle to
front right and 2-bay addition to left end under same roof, horse-engine house
to rear left of main barn. Partly 2 storeys. Herringbone-tooled quoins.
Central cart entry now with horizontal-sliding door and wood lintel. To right:
aisle has window opening flanked by doors. To left: one blocked and one open
doorway with small casement to their right; hatch to 1st floor. Addition to left
end has 2 brick panels divided by stone pier and with timber beams at lst-floor
level, doors and windows to ground floor, small casements to 1st floor. Shaped
kneelers and gable copings to left end of range. Rear: horse-engine house with
reconstructed roof now in poor condition. Right return: slit vents in stone
slate surrounds, owl hole pierced in ashlar slab.
Interior: original roof structure with principal-rafter trusses having raking
struts and double purlins.
Interior of added end bays damaged by fire.
