Barn and cowhouse. C17 cruck framework probably reconstructed within
C18 stonework, extended C19. Partly cruck-framed, coursed, squared
gritstone, later work horizontally tooled, stone slate roof. 2 storeys.
cruck barn with 3-bay extension downhill to left, 3 low outshuts to rear,
stepped down slope. 2 storeys. Uphill part: large quoins. Boarded cart
doors to right with quoined reveals. 3 cowhouse doorways to left, outer
ones in quoined surrounds with shaped lintels, both part-blocked, now
windows. Central door with lintel only. 2 dressed circular pitching
holes above. Later downhill part: 3 segmental-arched openings to ground
floor, all part-blocked. Circular pitching hole above flanked by cruciform
vents. Moulded kneelers, gable copings and apex finial to left. Left
return: circular pitching hole to loft flanked above by 2 round-headed
windows in ashlar surrounds with ledge, impost blocks and keyblocks.
Lower part of openings have pigeon holes, upper part casements, Interior
of uphill part: 3 cruck pairs all raised high in wall. Similar curved
trusses each with 2 tie beams, single purlins, windobraces, saddle apex
but no ridge. Adjoining farm building to front right not of special interest.
