Farmhouse with attached cowhouse and barn. Late C17, house extensively
rebuilt C19. House: ashlar gritstone. Cowhouse: cruck framed, coursed
gritstone rubble. Stone slate roofs. House: square gabled plan with
cowhouse and barn attached to left. 2 storeys, 2 windows to first floor.
Part-glazed door to right. 4-light double-chamfered mullion and transom
window with king mullion to left. Dripmould. 1st floor: double-chamfered
mullion windows with hoodmoulds, 4-lights to left, formerly 2-light to
right. Small square lights to twin gables, carved kneelers, cavetto-
moulded copings. 2 corniced ashlar ridge stacks. Rear: symmetrical
C19 garden front. Chamfered plinth at sill height. Central C19 part-
glazed door in ashlar surround with flanking plate glass sashes.
Dripmould. Similar sashes to first floor, projecting sills, hoodmoulds.
Twin gables as front. Right return: double-chamfered mullion windows,
iron casements. Dripmould. Left return: gabled dormer at eaves.
Attached cowhouse and barn has central elliptical-arched cart entry;
boarded door to left, window and door to right. Interior: 3 cruck
pairs, various inserted partition walls. The right cruck truss is
closed above tie beam level by a crude infill of horizontal latts
nailed to vertical studs, an uncommon survival. C20 conservatory
attached to left return of house not of special interest.
