II
2 houses, formerly one. C15 origin, reworked and extended C16 and C17, north
range refaced C18, major alteration and division c. 1980. Rubble, double roman
and pantile roofs. Around a courtyard although east range is very slight.
Oldest fragments are in south range which is much rebuilt and has 2 storeys,
2 windows in lower formerly single storey part to right, 2 in left part, irregular
fenestration includes 3 reserved chamfered stone mullion 2-light casements, one
similar with ogee and hollow, 2 reserved chamfer single lights and to right one
3 light window with hollow mould mullions, round heads to each light and decorated
spandrels, central gabled C20 porch, at far left is a 2 centered arch chamfered
door frame. North range is much taller and has 2 storeys, 3 windows, 2-light
casements with round heads under hoodmoulds, central C20 gabled porch encloses
doorcase with entablature and re-sited datestone, 1 A 1755, above is an inserted
C20 window, east and west ends each have one window as north. Linking west
range, also 2 storeys, late C20 windows below, above are two 2-light ovolo-
moulded mullion windows under relieving arches flanking a heavy battered buttress
(now pierced by C20 casement). Within courtyard the rear of this range has
similar window and arch and evidence of one such blocked; rear of north range has
doorcase with entablature. Interior: in south range there remains a 2-centered
chamfered door frame and at least one cambered truss; west range has one very
deep chamfered beam and one inglenook. (Source: L. Hall unpublished report :
