2 houses. probably c1760. For Gilpin Sawrey. Roughcast stone with slate
roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, but 1st bay of 3 storeys. 1st bay has C20 casement
windows; 2nd and 3rd bays have sashed windows with single glazing bars, but
2nd bay of ground floor has vertical glazing bars, and 3rd bay has canted
bay window. Attic skylights. Entrances have panelled doors, that to 1st
bay is C20. Cross-axial stack and gable-end stack. Built as part of planned
town square, an unusual feature in a Cumbrian village.
