23/61 Beswick's Restaurant and Cafe

G.V. II

House, now restaurant. c1760. For Gilpin Sawrey. Roughcast stone with slate
roof. 3 storeys with basement, 2 bays. Windows are sashed with glazing bars,
but 2nd floor has square casement windows. Central entrance up steps has
angle pilasters, frieze and cornice; 6-fielded-panel door. Basement entrance.
Cross-axial stack and gable-end stack. Right return has window with small-
parted casement and glazed door. Main iron area railings. Built as part of
planned town square, an unusual feature in a Cumbrian village.
