of Chinese Dairy

2 adjoining game larders. Probably early and mid C19, southern one
apparently earliest. S game larder: externally mostly red and white painted
timber (similar to Chinese Dairy), with slate roof. Small single-storeyed
square building with cross-gabled roof, with sloping-roofed verandah to all
sides. Verandah has timber columns with moulded bases and capitals.
Verandah is completely enclosed by plain trelliswork between columns, W, N
and E elevations have decorative trelliswork doors. Main structure has part
glazed double doors in line with verandah doors. Main structure also has
fixed lights with glazing bars, 2 each to W and E elevations, 3 to S
elevation. Each gable attic has segmental-arched window. Interior has
stone flagged floor and apparently retains ice pit beneath. Chinese Dairy
covered way adjoins to S. N game larder: adjoins to N. Colourwashed brick
with conical slate roof. Small single-storeyed circular window. 8 French
windows surmounted by rectangular fanlights. S one gives onto S game larder.
All others open onto exterior and have panelled full length shutters. Roof
is surmounted by small circular dovecote with 2 tiers of openings and leaded
roof. Internally room has ceramic tiles to walls, octagonal tiles to floors
and central timber pier.
