23.1.61 Sculptural groups in Woburn Abbey
GV II Courtyard)
Statue. Circa 1700 by J V Legterin (floruit 1658-1708). Ashlar, blackened at
a later date, to hide repair work and imitate lead. Stands on rectangular
ashlar plinth with moulded base and cap. Statue and plinth together measure
approximately 3 metres in height. Standing figure of Juno in classical
draperies, with peacock standing behind R leg. Forms a group with items
10/146, 10/147 and 10/148, which depict Adonis, Apollo and Diana.
