War memorial. Early C20. Erected by Helen Carter in memory of husband Herbert
Augustine Carter VC of the 101 st Grenadier Indian Army who died January 13th 1916 on
active service in British East Africa and in honour of those men of the parish who
gave their lives in the Great War. Tapered freestone shaft surmounted by freestone
carved crucifixion ; the shaft is on an inscribed plinth and this stands on a large
stepped base.
The base and plinth are square on plan, the shaft is octagonal with 4 of the sides as
chamfers over stops.
