Stable block. Late C18, with mid C19 entrance front. Red and grey brick,
slate roofs. Quadrangular plan. Main front of 7 bays in symmetrical
elevation. Centre bay is rusticated and breaks forward slightly to
round- headed opening in rusticated surround with slight inward batter.
To right and to left are 3 smaller round-headed openings with fanlights
with radial glazing in rusticated surrounds: above in the short sections
of wall between each opening are keyed oculus windows in rusticated
surrounds. Bracketed cornice. Balustraded parapet. Over the central door
is a low gabled clock tower with rusticated quoins, a clock face, and
oversailing eaves beneath a louvred timber lantern with keyed round
headed openings beneath a cornice capped by a pyramidal lead dome and
weather-vane. The opposing range has an inward facing elevation of 5
giant round-headed openings with impost band, the outer pairs with
boarded double-leaf doors under panelled overdoors. Blank segmental-
headed openings with sills to first-floor level. The ranges to north and
south have boarded doors with overlight with vertical glazing bars
alternating with 12-pane sashes with sills to the ground floor, and
6-pane sashes with sills to the first floor. All openings are under
segmental brick arches. Dentilled brick eaves cornice, axial stacks.
Interior: the stables retain a complete set of late C19 loose boxes and
fittings in excellent condition.
