3/25 Summer Pavilion to west
of Dalton Hall(formerly listed
7.2.68 as Garden Pavilion)

Pavilion. Before 1737. Attributed to Colen Campbell. Brick, rendered,
with stone dressings and slate roof. Single storey, tripartite elevation.
Shallow plinth; Tuscan columns with vermiculated bands to divisions and
quoins. 3 stone steps to central round-headed opening - wider than the side
divisions - with Greek key impost band (which continues across the facade)
and vermiculated key block. 15-pane unequal sashes with plain sill bands to
right and to left: above the impost band are blank rectangular openings.
Entablature with vermiculated dosserets, eaves and raked cornices to shallow
pediment over central door. Spherical urns with vermiculated equatorial
bands to ends and to pediment. Rear wall: large axially-placed fanlight
with radial glazing. Interior: geometric floor of large white and small
black marble paviours. Vitruvius Britannicus, Vol IV 1739 plates 90-91.
