Cottage. Late C17, and east-west crosswing of early C18. Timber-framed, part
exposed, part plaster rendered and cased in C19 brick at the rear. Triple
roll pantile roof to former thatch roof. Ridge stack rebuilt above the ridge
in mid C20, and one side stack and one end stack to crosswing. Original plan
of C17 cottage of single range three bay type. One storey and attic. On the
east side two dormers with swept roofs and modern small pane wood casements.
Two doorways on the front, including one in a lean-to porch opposite the
stack. In the early C18 the cottage was extended by the addition of bays on
the east and west which now incorporate the north bay of the original cottage.
Timber-frame part exposed with upward bracing. Similar triple roll pantiles
replacing thatch. In five bays, including the end bay of the old range. One
storey and attic. Similar swept dormers and modern casements. Interior:
Abutting inglenook hearths to C17 part. Red brick. Evidence for
incorporation of the north end bay of the C17 cottage in the C18 addition can
be seen in the roof where the original wall plate with sites for rafters
remain.
