Detached house. Late C18, remodelled c1830. Ashlar and random
rubble limestone; ashlar chimneys; Welsh slate roof. Two-storey.
Front: asymmetrical with 2-storey segmental bow to left, 2 glazed
doors to ground floor, two 12-pane sashes above. Roughly central
doorway, formerly with attached pedimented Tuscan doorcase, later
brought forward with new porch sides; 8-panel moulded door. Two
further sashes to each floor to right, all 12-pane. All windows
have louvred external shutters. Plain upper floor level band and
modillion cornice with blocking course continued over bow. Hipped
roof. Screen wall to left has one window with 'oriental' head,
continuation of screen with round arched doorway, plain coping
swept up over. South east end: stepped elevation, left part with
2-storey canted bay window having 12-pane sashes, plain band and
cornice continued from front. Further upper floor 12-pane sash set
back to right above round arched ground floor doorway with lunette
above plank and cover strip door. Rustic archway links terrace
walls (q.v.) with back of house. Rear: one 2-light Gothic window.
Low pitched gable end of return wing to right with mullioned
casements and doorways to upper floor and attic. North west end:
some possibly earlier masonry with 2 and 3-light mullioned
casements. Tall eaves-mounted chimney with moulded cap.
Interior: mostly refitted c1830 but some earlier features survive,
notably late C18 fireplace in hall. Straight staircase with stick
balusters and wreathed handrail. Anthemion frieze in room to right
of hall, also probably late C18. Small flying staircase at end of
upper floor corridors. Vaulted cellar passages at north west end
of house appear to be connected with former mill attached at this
end. The building's name is derived from from the Seville and Lowe
families, successive owners in C19. Terrace walls and gazebo to
north (q.v.), gates, gate piers and boundary railings to south east
(q.v.).
