4/106 No 64, The Old Bakehouse
GV II
House. C16, C19, altered late C20. Timber-framed with rendered
panels, English garden-wall bond brickwork to left return; stone
slate roof; right wing roughly squared stone brought to courses,
artificial stone slate roof, 'L' plan, with rear wing, 1 1/2 storeys.
To road: 2-bay main range; left return brick, corbelled chimney
projection rising part way up gable; exposed queen-strut truss,
boards over principal rafters. Front: framing 2-panel high, all
covered by boarding, low plinth. Elbow brace to sill on left; 3-
light mullion oriel window, moulded sill, lean-to roof; 3-light
casement; brace to wallplate; boarded door up one stone step,
triangular arch in timber head. Above, gabled dormer with 3-light
casement; ashlar chimney on ridge to left of door. Wing projects
on right: boarded door on left return, 4-light casement, with
original iron opening light, both with timber lintels. Gable, 3-
light casement to upper floor, iron opening light curved track:
projecting iron bar for sign, 3 stays. Right wing said to have
been village bakehouse. Interior not accessible.
