House, cottage and outbuilding; 2 builds: early C18 and a set-back
later C18 section at left which is part of No. 27. Finely-coursed
tooled sandstone; herringbone tooling to extension. Pantiled roofs
with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. No. 27 has older
part on right: 2 storeys, 2 wide bays. Sloped plinth. Off-centre
boarded door in chamfered surround. Fire window at right; chamfered
window, lost mullion, at left and small inserted window far left.
2- and 3-light stone-mullioned windows above. Set-back lower left
part has modern windows and an extruded porch with boarded door;
also 1-storey extension also with modern windows. Corniced end
chimneys to this and main house. Block and moulded kneelers.
No. 29 lower, 2 storeys, 2 wide bays. Off-centre C20 door in
narrowly-chamfered surround. Left a chamfered window lost mullion
and early C19 sash inserted. Very small window at right. On first
floor left another sash inserted in an old chamfered reveal; and a
small inserted window under eaves. This may have been a longhouse
with byre at right, since taken into the house and the outbuilding
added. This has 2 stable doors and an inserted garage door; 3 loft
doors above. Curved right end kneeler.
Brick lean-to at right is not of special interest.
Interior no inspected, but a panelled-in box bed is illustrated
(p.92) in the RCHM volume.
