Farmhouse. Early C17, altered mid-C19. Timber-framed with rendered
infill on rubble base, partly roughcast with some sandstone rubble walling
and some corrugated metal cladding. Plain tiled and corrugated metal roofs
with C19 brick ridge stacks, T-plan; main range of four framed bays aligned
north-west/south-east with C19 external brick chimney at north-west end.
A wing of three framed bays with a central chimney bay adjoins the south-
west side of the second bay from the north-west end. Two storeys and
attic. Framing: six panels from sill to wall-plate. No trusses visible
externally. South-west front elevation: main range screened by plant growth
to left of wing. To right of wing is a ground and first floor 3-light C19
casement and ledged and battened door. Wing has a 16-pane ground floor sash
window at its gable end. A first floor window is partly visible. Left side
of wing has an original window on both floors of eight lights with moulded
frames, mullions and transoms. The ground floor window retains two leaded
lights. There is also a ground floor single-light leaded casement and a
first floor 3-light casement. The right side of the wing has a ground
floor 16-pane sash window, a first floor C19 single-light casement and 3-
light casement, and a C19 ledged and battened door. C19 lean-to additions
at rear. Interior. partly accessible. There are run-out and ogee stop-
chamfered main ceiling beams. [RCHM Herefs III, p 43, item (3)].
