House. Late C14 origins, largely rebuilt circa 1700 with further mid-C19
alterations. Coursed sandstone rubble, formerly rendered with some internal
timber framing and asbestos slate roofs. Main two-bay range aligned roughly
east/west with external rubble chimneys and rebuilt C19 brick stacks at east
end and rear west bay. Single-bay range, lower in height at west end, also
with external chimney at west end and lean-to rubble bread oven. Two storeys,
attic and cellar with two-course band between storeys of main range. South
front elevation:main range has two ground and first floor C19 casements with
timber lintels. Single-bay part has a 2-light C19 Casement on both floors
(ground floor one has a timber lintel) and the main entrance which has a moulded
architrave and ledged and battened door. Attic lights in gable ends. Entrance
to cellar at rear of main range. Interior: single-bay part retains a complete
cruck truss with a chamfered arch-braced collar and, above the collar, cusped
raking struts. Main range has timber-framed central partition with some
lath and plaster infill, stop-chamfered main ceiling beams. Single-bay part
has a chamfered cross-beamed ceiling and two ovens in chimney. (RCHM, Herefs,
