Parish church. 1853. By G T Shaw. Sandstone watershot masonry, stone dressings,
slate roof. W entrance porch, 2 stage west tower, 4 bay nave, and north aisle,
2 bay chancel and north vestry. Cast iron plaque in porch commemorating grant of
£180 towards construction of church by Society for Promoting the Enlargement,
Building and Repair of Churches and Chapels. Entrance porch: pointed arch with
moulded surround, plank door; hoodmould with head stops; angle buttresscs and
steeply pitched roof. Tower: 2-light mullioned window with cinquefoil heads and
rectilinear tracery; head stops to hoodmould. Similar but smaller window to belfry;
angle buttresses, embattled parapet. 3 windows to south side of nave, and 3 to
north aisle, have 2 lights, trefoil heads and mullions; rectilinear tracery and flat
arch heads, hoodmoulds with head stops. Corbel table. Cross finial to east gable.
2 lancet windows to south side of nave, trefoil heads and rectilinear tracery.
East window: 3 lights, mullioned with cinquefoil heads, rectilinear tracery, hood-
mould with head stops. Cross finial to east gable which is lower than that of nave.
North entrance to vestry has pointed arch, plank door. c1970 adjoining boiler house
of reused stone. Interior: 4 bay arcade to north aisle, octagonal pillars; pointed
arches. Similar chancel arch. Nave trusses have curved principals on stone corbels
with King posts supporting ridge piece and struts to common rafters.
