Terrace of 14 semi-detached linked villas. On slope of hill.
Street laid out in 1832 by John Booth, and his son, also John,
Surveyors for the Lloyd Baker Estate. Gold stock bricks set in
Flemish bond with stucco dressings, and stucco pediment over
each pair; Welsh (nos. 26, 29, 32, 35, 36) and artificial
slate gabled roofs, others obscured by parapet; centre brick
or stucco rendered stacks. Restrained Greek Revival style.
Side-hall entrance plan to outer linked bay of each house.
Two-storeys with basements; 2 windows each including recessed
1-window (no. 34 original 4/4 sash with margin lights)
entrance bay coupled as link. Nos. 35 and 36 irregular with
extended link to accommodate carriage-way between entrances
and with extra window above. Low steps rise to deeply recessed
(several altered and brought forward) stucco entrance with
antae supporting entablature surmounted by C20 reproduction
iron balcony railings. Architraved doorway with pair of
3-panelled doors (nos. 26-29, 31-35 original). Architraved
sashes throughout: ground-floor with predominantly 6/6 (with
margin lights) and 1st floor with 6/6 (often with margin
lights) and 8/8 sashes; 1st floor recessed balconied links
with narrower doors or sashes. Plain stucco band beneath
pediments; stucco parapet with stone coping or blocking course
to 1st floor recessed link. Attached iron railings.
