Terraced houses. Early C19. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond,
stucco, roofs of slate so far as visible. Two storeys over
basement, two windows each. The houses are grouped in pairs,
the inner bay of each sharing a pedimented gable with its
neighbour, and the outer, entrance bay set back. Paired,
flat-arched, stucco porches with antae; flat-arched entrance
with panelled door of original design; inner windows to ground
and first floor set back in a stucco panel, the ground-floor
window flat-arched and flanked by pilasters, the first-floor
windows segmental-arched, and the whole panel under a round
arch with stucco impost blocks and archivolt; first-floor
window over entrance segmental-arched; cast-iron railings to
balcony over porch; stucco pediment to inner bays, parapet to
outer; stacks to party walls.
Features of individual houses are: no 30A is a stuccoed,
two-storey addition with a projecting ground floor and canted
bay window to first floor; nos 30-32 have overlights and
sashes of original design; no 33 has sashes of original
design, as do nos 35-8 except that the first-floor window over
the entrance on no 35 has been altered to a door; no 40
consists of two bays with no porch or entrance set back,
flat-arched entrance in right-hand bay with overlight, and
cornice and blocking course in place of pediment. Cast-iron
railings to steps and area, some houses having cast-iron gate
piers decorated with anthemion ornament.
