Terrace of 20 semi-detached linked villas. On slope of hill.
Street laid out in 1832 by John Booth, and his son, also John,
Surveyors for the Lloyd Baker Estate. Gold stock bricks set in
Flemish bond with stucco dressings, and stucco pediment over
each pair; Welsh (nos. 6, 10, 12) and artificial slate gabled
roofs, others obscured by parapet; centre brick or stucco
rendered stacks. Side-hall entrance plan to outer linked bay
of each house. Restrained Greek Revival style. Two-storeys
with basements; 2-windows each including recessed 1-window
entrance bays coupled as link. Low steps rise to deeply
recessed stucco entrance with antae supporting entablature
surmounted by C20 reproduction iron balcony railings.
Architraved doorway with pair of 3-panelled doors except to
nos. 5-10 (4 & 6-panelled single door). Architraved sashes
throughout: ground-floor with predominantly 6/6 sashes with
margin lights except to nos. 7-10, 12, 14, 21, 24 (8/8) and
1st floor 8/8 sashes except nos. 18-20, 22, 23 (6/6 with
margin lights) and nos. 23-24 with cast-iron Neo-classical
window guards in palmette pattern; 1st floor recessed
balconied links with narrower doors nos. 20, 21, 23, 24
(original) or various sashes. Plain stucco band beneath
pediments; stucco parapet with stone coping or blocking course
to 1st floor recessed link. Attached iron railings.
