Milepost. Dated 1877. Limestone ashlar. Tall square base with pyramidal
capping. The apex of the pyramid supports a circular column with a moulded
base and capital about three feet high. The capital is surmounted by an
unusual finial in the form of an orb and crown. The tall base is inscribed
with the names of various villages and towns and their distance in miles.
On the north side of the base is inscribed "ELIZABETH II/ CORONATION". The
central part is illegible and beneath is written "JUBILEE/ 1887/ BECKFORD".
The milepost is prominently located at the west end of the village.
