GV II

Stable block. Dated 1696. Yellow/grey sandstone ashlar with hipped
plain tile roof, lower over wings. Shallow U-plan. 2 storeys. Moulded
plinth. 1:3:1 bays; 2-light double-chamfered stone mullioned windows.
Central boarded door with moulded surround. Inscribed oval-shaped sundial
to right of left-hand first-floor window with wrought-iron gnomon.
Left-hand return front with one 2-light stone mullioned window on each
floor and right-hand return front with blocked or blind 2-light ground-
floor window (obscured by later addition). First-floor 2-light stone
mullioned window at rear. Interior: ceiling beams with mortices for
former timber framed partition. Chamfered-arched recess in left-hand
side wall and Tudor-arched blocked doorway or fireplace in right-hand
side wall. C19 stalls. Collar and tie-beam roof trusses.
