Shown on O.S. map as Nos. 39 and 40.
House, latterly divided. Mid-C17 with early C18 alterations and addition
and mid- to late C19 addition. Timber framed with painted brick nogging,
partly rebuilt and extended in painted brick; plain tile roof. Framing:
small square panels (4 from sole plate to wall plate) with closely-
spaced uprights beneath windows. T-plan; former baffle-entry house
of 3 framed bays at right-angles to road with C18 wing to south and
C19 wing to north. 2 storeys and attic with 2-storey wing. C17 range
to right with brick ridge stack and C18 wing to left with dentil brick
eaves cornice and integral brick end stack. Gable end to right with
ground-floor 2-light small-paned casement, blocked first-floor window
and small 2-light wooden attic casement. 2-window left-hand return
with 2-light small-paned first-floor casements and 3-light small-paned
ground-floor casements with segmental heads; central blocked doorway.
Wing to left with ground-floor 3-light segmental-headed wooden casement
to left and segmental-headed C20 boarded door to right. C19 addition
to west has dentil brick eaves cornice and integral brick end stack.
Timber framed gable end at rear has collar and tie-beam truss with queen
struts and V-struts. Interior not inspected but described by Mercer.
